A STRANGER AT HOME
(World Premiere)
A professor and his students embark on the study of life through e-mail exchanges. What does the heart want and where can it be found? Will home be found there too?
Meet life's characters - the teacher, the lover, the old woman, the medium and the terrorist, who lay bare their hearts even as they search for it. Each is at the crossroads of choice: to claim a new sense of belonging or be lost to nostalgia.
Adapted and directed by Young Artist Award recipient (2000) Kok Heng Leun, it is based on an original play by National Youth Award winner and academic Dr Quah Sy Ren. It is similarly inspired by Dr Quah's book co-written with Teacher of the Year 2005 and playwright Ng How Wee.
A Stanger at Home takes a visceral look at the impact of the changing urban landscape on human emotions, needs, memories and existence. Combining theatre, music and film, director Kok Heng Leun questions the concept of nostalgia, home, memories, and identity. The film will be produced by acclaimed director Royston Tan.
Starring Young Artist Award recipient (2005) and Best Supporting Actress award winner (6th Life! Theatre Award 2006) Li Xie, Peter Sau, Koh Hui Ling, Mindee Ong and Yeo Yan Yan
Performed in Mandarin with English Surtitles.
