Drift – a co-commission by Singapore Season in China 2007 and Singapore Arts Festival 2008. Co-produced by Drama Box and the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre.
Helmed by award-winning Singaporean director Kok Heng Leun, Drift is a story that spans across three generations and two cities. The play examines the implications behind the speed of modernisation and deliberates on diverse cultural and historical tapestries. While inviting audiences to ponder over their own search for identity, the characters in Drift will also uncover personal triumphs, tragedies and longing, all being held afloat by the life buoy of Hope.
Creative talents from Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong had come together to create the emotional and psychological drifting you will experience in the theatre.
Apart from the exciting use of live multimedia by interactive video artists from Hong Kong, the creative team includes an array of award winning designers including film design by Eva Tang who just received 2nd Prize in the Akira Kurosawa Memorial Short Film Competition 2007; lighting design by Psyche Chui from Hong Kong; original music by local space-rock phenomenon The Observatory and set design by SDAC’s Sang Qi.
There will be a post-show talk on 5 June 2008.
