What is FORUM THEATRE?

Forum Theatre originated from "Theatre of the Oppressed", established by Brazilian theatre master Augusto Boal.

The most distinct feature of Forum Theatre is that it turns passive spectators to become proactive "spect-actors" by allowing them onstage to replace actors and change the outcome of a play.

  • Introduction to Theatre Games & Image Theatre as part of the arsenal of Theatre of the Oppressed
  • Learn the dramaturgy of a forum theatre
  • Devise an "anti-model"
  • Experience a Forum Theatre Session
  • Further exploration into Theatre Games & Image Theatre as part of the arsenal of Theatre of the Oppressed
  • Learn how to direct and rehearse a Forum Theatre presentation
  • Integration of Pedagogy of the Oppressed into Forum Theatre
  • Introduction to Jokering and Acting-Facilitating

None Participants must have jokered/directed/acted in a Forum Theatre or have attended level 1
