The Education Arm of Drama Box
NeNeMas’ works include interactive plays for schools as well as workshops specially tailored for students, teachers and corporate clients using our unique methodology. Within a short 6-month period in 2004, we have reached more than 5,000 students and 400 teachers through our plays and workshops.
In 2003 and 2004, our company was commissioned by Nexus (S21 committee) to bring a Theatre-In-Education piece, The Garden to secondary schools in Singapore. The piece was widely well-received and received great reviews from both teachers and students alike.
In 2005 using our informed pedagogy, NeNeMas created:
- A Forum Theatre piece and a special 2 hour workshop on the use of Theatre Techniques in National Education for the SAF NE event in October
- A Forum Theatre piece, Hello, Julie! as our assembly programme on NAC-AEP on the theme of Civil Responsibility, reaching more than 10,000 students and 800 teachers
- A full length Forum Theatre piece Flies in My Ear on the issue of Out-Of-School Youths. We employed three Out-Of-School Youths, taught them production work as well as collaboratively created a full length Forum Theatre piece and performed at 5 public locations to great feedback and response
- Launched a year-long programme in partnership with Marine Parade Family Service Centre, working with teens from Assumption Vocational Institute and Geylang Serai Vocational Institute on different themes such as Family, Self-respect, Bullying, Activating Change from Within

What NeNeMas, the Education Arm of Drama Box has done…
- Conducted Befriender-Befriendee workshops for AWARE (2003)
- Led youths to India, on a Youth Expedition Programme, using Forum Theatre (2003)
- Worked with youths from Geylang Serai and Assumption Vocational Institute (2004-2005)
- Presented a Theatre-In-Education piece for Singapore Cancer Society, catered to children and families affected by cancer (2005)
- Performed a series of community tours by working with Out-Of-School Youths, who worked in collaboration with NeNeMas for a full month to develop a full-scale Forum Theatre piece (2005)
- Shared our pedagogy with, and trained more than 300 Chinese Language teachers in the National Institute of Education (N.I.E)
